Towards the entrance of Park Lime Pits in Rushall stands the most attractive and ancient Manor Arms, a most pleasant and outstanding Banks's public house, (without a bar [check it out]) hosted by Shirley and Martin Wood.

The building has had a number of various uses through the ages from being a mortuary in the Civil War to being a brothel in former times. It is also said that the house has even been used by the eccalastical. It is of no surprise then that the establishment wouldn't have a ghost story to tell.

Once two old ladies lived there, however for some long lost reason one companion suddenly departed leaving the other to fend for herself. One fateful day she tumbled at the front entrance of the house and when she was eventually found, she was no longer alive.

It is believed by many of the regulars that it is her ghost which haunts the pub. A former tennant saw another ghostly lady or more probably the same one, on an evening after the pub had been closed. All the customers had left and the light were switched off.

As he was ascending the stairs he saw the lady descending, dressed in white and wearing a straw hat. The apparition caught him by surprise.

Another incident inside the cellar involved a head lady who was working there on the barrels as a relief. Suddenly, without warning a large filter tray was thrown across the cellar by an unknown force!

Shirley and Martin have never encountered any unnatural spirits since they started in September 2000. Nonetheless, one bedroom does remain unbearably cold, even when the heating inside is on full. The room will not be heated at all!

On many occasions, when Mrs. Wood is alone inside the premises, she goes all goose pimply for no reason at all! One former employee there, a postman, said that he would never venture into the attic while he was at work.
